Keld, a film lab in Leeds. Develop and scan from £14 a roll.

Your film back in two working days, developed by hand and scanned at the size you choose.

Post your rolls or drop them in on Mabgate. We develop C-41, E-6 and black and white in small batches, scan every frame, and send a download link the evening it’s done.

  • C-41, E-6 and black and white
  • 35mm, 120 and 4×5 sheets
  • Scans up to 6,774 × 4,492 px

Film in the fridge

We keep our own house stocks at 4 °C, spooled in Leeds in short runs. Each one is the look you see at the top of this page, and we develop all of them here.

How we scan

Every frame is scanned flat, with no automatic colour correction, then balanced by a person against the film’s own base. We check each roll at 100% and spot dust by hand before it goes out.

  • Standard

Enough for a 30 × 20 cm print and anything on a screen. The default on every develop and scan order.

    3,637 × 2,433 px for 35mm, 2,433 × 2,433 px for 6×6. JPEG, around 4 MB a frame.
  • Large

For prints up to 60 × 40 cm and for anyone who crops. Grain is resolved, so push processed rolls look like film, not noise.

    6,774 × 4,492 px. JPEG around 14 MB, 16-bit TIFF around 90 MB a frame.
  • Sheet film

4×5 sheets are scanned one at a time on the flatbed with a wet mount, and delivered as TIFF only.

    2,400 ppi, 9,600 × 12,000 px, about 690 MB a sheet.

C-41 runs at 37.8 °C for 3 minutes 15 seconds in a replenished line. We read a control strip every morning and hold density within 0.05 of the reference, so Tuesday’s rolls match Friday’s. E-6 is a six bath process at 38 °C with a 6 minute first developer.

Black and white is developed by hand in small tanks at 20 °C, with the developer and time chosen for the film and the push you asked for. Pushed rolls get a longer first wash and a second fix.
