Wayfold walking holidays, from £540 a person.
A map drawn for your route. Three to eight days on foot, inn to inn, with your bags carried ahead.
We draw a 1:25,000 sheet for every walk we sell, with the path, the time for each leg and the places that matter marked by hand. Then we book the rooms, move your bags each morning and answer the phone.
- Sheets at 1:25,000 on waterproof paper
- Bags moved by 3 pm
- April to October, 2 to 8 walkers
Four routes this season
Each route is walked by us every spring before the first group sets off, and the sheet is redrawn if a stile has moved. Prices are per person sharing, with breakfast, a packed lunch and the bag moves.
-
The Hollin round
Two inns and a night in the bothy at Hollin Tarn, which we stock with firewood the day before. The high day crosses Scarrow Pike at 803 m; the low route round it is drawn on the same sheet.
£690a person, 4 days
-
Scarrow to the sea
Our longest hill route, inn to inn, ending on the shingle below Dodd Howe. Two rest days are drawn in, with the bus times for the days you skip.
£1,140a person, 6 days
-
Lingwater in a weekend
Friday train, Sunday train. The inn at Lingwater keeps the same room for both nights, so Saturday is a loop with a light bag and a swim at the end.
£540a person, 3 days
-
The coast path
Seal Point to Lantern Head, with the tide tables printed on the sheet for the two crossings. Gentle gradients, long days and a fish supper most nights.
£1,380a person, 8 days
What is included
You walk with a paper map we drew for you and a phone number that is answered. Everything else, the rooms, the bags and the trains, is arranged before you set off.
- Your sheet
- Drawn at 1:25,000 for your dates: the route in red, the time for each leg at your pace, the inns, the water and the ways off the hill. It is posted six weeks ahead on waterproof paper, with the room list and a train plan.
- Rooms
- Inns and guest houses we have stayed in ourselves, with breakfast and a packed lunch each day. Where the inn is the only place to eat, dinner is booked too.
- Bags
- Leave your bag in the hall by nine and it is in your next room by three, moved by a local driver. Up to 20 kg each.
- The phone
- Answered from 7 am to 10 pm by someone who has walked your route. There is no app to install.
- If the weather turns
- Every route has a low level line drawn on the same sheet, and a taxi within the hour on any day of the walk.
- Maps on their own
- Any of our sheets can be bought without the holiday for £14, posted flat or folded, and we send the new edition free when a path changes.
